A coming-of-age coming-out story that imaginatively captures the turbulence of teenage-hood, the elation and devastation of first love and the true meaning of friendship. Cameron Monaghan (Shameless; Gotham; The Giver) and Peyton List (BUNKD; The Thinning; Jessie) star in this movie based on the award-winning novel by Joanne Proulx. Anthem of a Teenage Prophet tells the story of Luke Hunter (Cameron Monaghan) a teenager who foresees the death of his new best friend Stan (Alex MacNicoll), the most popular guy in school. When this premonition becomes reality, Luke must deal with the trials and tribulations of being dubbed "The Prophet of Death" and being titled a freak by the entire town. It doesn't help that he's fallen in love with Faith (Peyton List), who just happens to be Stan's girl, or that he's on the outs with his closeted gay childhood best friend Fang (Grayson Gabriel) or that the premonitions just keep coming. Awards: 6 nominations. In a story that expertly navigates that often rocky, at times inspiring road to adulthood, it authentically balances the teenage experience of confusion, anxiety, and rage with those exceptional moments of clarity, self discovery, and human connection. Hormonal, funny, exhilarating, and wise, the film slyly explores the need to belong, the isolation of youth, and the powerful brew of fear, truth, and noise that plays inside us all. Director Robin Hays said that his film dealt with death in a way that really celebrates life. It is not easy being a teenager. It is quite a difficult journey and many have a hard time coping and figuring things out. There is drama throughout the film as well as emotional crises but it is, in effect, a comedy, albeit one that deals with a difficult subject in a way a lot of films don't.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5460880/ Ageless hunk Paul Rudd (Clueless) and Steve Coogan (Philomena) star as an older gay couple who suddenly inherit a child. The child belongs to Coogans a.k.a Erasmus son played by sexy Jake McDorman (Greek) after being arrested. They live an R rated lifestyle but it's hilarious to watch them curb their ways and form a bond. It's not a wholly original concept but it's never been explored in this context. And that's definitely a plus because it's nice to see films of this context being explored with an lgbtq couple. It's hilarious, genuine and heartfelt. Rudd and Coogan are magic and it's all overly entertaining.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0250202/ "All Over The Guy" is a contemporary romantic comedy about the quest to find the "one" when "the one" doesn't know he's the "one." It explores the unlikely pairing of two 20-somethings thrown together by their respective best friends in hopes of igniting their own romance. They do everything they can to NOT fall in love, but finally they overcome the dysfunction of their parents and surrender to their hearts. -
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7387292/ This film is a poignant play with bodies, landscape, identity. The actors are beautiful and the music is hypnotizing. They are constructed with bitter irony around themes of immigration and personal alienation. A truly poetic work.
